This week’s podcast is with journalist and author Jamie Bartlett. We have spent plenty of time on this podcast celebrating the returns which come from the technology industry but in this edition Jamie, who is an expert on technology, politics and the interplay between the two, explains how democracy might be undermined by a failure of the rules of the game to keep pace with the digital sources being employed. How can election results be accepted when they are influenced by increasingly contentious data driven practises? Does the  internet and digital communication mark a liberation of the people or its descent into anarchy? What changes should people make in their lives in order to guard against an environment in which their personal data is being gathered on which might be used by less benevolent forces than retailers?
