Assistant Director

“I have experience working in social care and so understand the demands of setting up and running a charity, including the ongoing challenges of securing funding. I have been on the other side and want to help charities achieve their objectives and maximise the support they can give.”

James works in our Edinburgh office and is an Investment Manager. He is part of the Charities team, helping to manage portfolios for clients in the sector. This involves regular meetings with trustees to discuss issues such as picking the right level of investment risk and the purpose and objectives for each investment portfolio.

He also helps run charity seminars and events, to help inform Trustees about their responsibilities as well as investment strategies and broader aspects of portfolio management. He remains fascinated by the breadth and depth of the charity sector in Scotland and the variety of causes they support.

James began his financial services career in 2014 as an Index Analyst at Russell Investments. He moved to RBC Brewin Dolphin in 2015 as a graduate trainee working in the Intermediaries, Private Clients and Charities teams. He is a Chartered Wealth Manager and is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
