Wealth manager Brewin Dolphin’s southwest offices (Exeter, Plymouth and Truro) have raised over £12,000 for Farms for City Children, during a two-year partnership with the charity, which began in 2020. The money raised will be able to subsidise around 39 children’s residential stay at a farm for one week.

Employees from all three offices took part in various fundraising activities to raise money, including Christmas auctions and raffles and the Brewin Dolphin 7-Day Challenge, which saw members from the respective offices walk, run or cycle 655 miles collectively over seven days. The team also took part in two volunteering days at Nethercott House, where they weeded the gardens and painted chicken coops and a potting shed.

The positive impact that Farms for City Children has on youngsters is visible, with one London primary school teacher saying: “This time provides invaluable opportunities for city children to broaden their experiences. It provides children with important structure and routine and builds their physical and emotional resilience.” Another added: “Children who do not thrive in the classroom setting have embraced every opportunity. Their confidence and self-esteem have grown beyond measure. They will transfer these skills into the outside world.”

Tim Walker, head of southwest offices, Brewin Dolphin, said: “It has been a genuine pleasure for us to work together to support this wonderful charity, over the last two years. With the pandemic disrupting lives in so many ways, Farms for City Children gives youngsters the important confidence-building and resilience skills they need to flourish.”

Farms for City Children is a charity enabling children from densely populated city communities to experience the adventure of working together on one of three farms in the heart of the British countryside. For more information, visit: farmsforcitychildren.org/
