Our Financial Planning academy

A career in financial planning is open to you

If you are looking for a career in financial advice and helping people make the most of their money, we are interested in you.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about building relationships with people and meeting their financial goals. We welcome both graduates and non-graduates to join our development programme.

People who join us at the start of their career tell us that we are very different to other financial services firms. It’s our culture and way of working that sets us apart.

Our colleagues enjoy a good work life balance. Like any job, there are peaks and troughs in work, but we want our colleagues to be motivated, engaged and enjoying their work, which is why agile working is supported across the business.

Although you will be part of a cohort of trainees from across the organization, you’ll be an integral part of one of our wealth management teams from the start – immersed in our organization and working with more experienced people who you can learn from.

We seek individuals who want to get ahead, are keen to learn and develop their financial knowledge, and serve our clients with excellent advice. If this sounds like you, visit vacancies to apply for our latest development opportunities.

Getting to know your clients and helping them to make the most of their money is extremely rewarding. For many advisers, seeing someone thrive on your advice and make secure plans for their future is an incredibly enriching experience.

If you are interested in helping people make the most of what they have, guiding their future financial health, then do not hesitate to apply. We will help you develop your client consulting skills and financial knowledge and provide on-the-job experience to help you flourish as a financial adviser. We’ll also provide a competitive salary.

We provide wide-ranging support as part of our Financial Planning academy. We will support your learning journey with an industry recognised qualification, supplemented with our own in-house development courses. You’ll have access to a buddy, online development through our GROW resources, and on-the-job experience. Your manager will be on hand to guide you too, as well as your training peer network.

Our colleagues come from a variety of backgrounds and we encourage people to bring their personality – their whole self – to work because we believe this builds the best teams.

From the very start, you will be working with more experienced colleagues, so you’ll need to be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get involved. Furthermore, we are not a formal, hierarchical organisation. Good communication skills are necessary in order to make the most of these opportunities.

Wanting to learn is important too. Whether it is academic learning for qualifications, learning about clients, our business, our culture, or anything else you come across, being able to learn is paramount. We are ultimately looking for people who can integrate themselves well into our teams and grow their career with us.

As part of our Financial Planning programme, we will help you develop your communication and consulting skills. We’ll focus on enhancing your presentation expertise, developing your approach with clients, and honing your listening skills.

You will, of course, expand your knowledge of financial advice with a particular focus on financial planning, but at the same time you’ll develop real-world client experience, ensuring that you’ll be able to thrive in your financial planning career on completion of our programme.

Depending on how quickly you work through the programme, you could expect to complete the first stage of your training in roughly 18 to 24 months.

You’ll achieve a Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning and the skills to help you thrive in financial planning.

The initial stage of our Financial Planning academy will last around two years. In this time, you’ll have gained your Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning as well as client experience.

Following this excellent grounding, you can specialise either in paraplanning or develop as a financial adviser. The paraplanner route is suitable for people who excel at the technical side of financial planning, while the financial adviser route is for those whose strengths lie in client relationships and advice.

After the first two years, your development programme will be tailored to your chosen career path, including advanced qualifications and additional skills development.

Our Financial Planning academy is open to anyone with a genuine interest in helping people plan their financial futures. Don’t forget that you’ll earn a salary at the same time and benefit from wide-ranging development support.

Our Financial Planning academy is a vital way of bringing in new talent and developing our future advisers. We are committed to developing talented people with a passion for helping others, so that they become our professionals of tomorrow.
