In his opening speech, Richard Buxton, group human resources director, Brewin Dolphin said that the achievements of the Financial Planning Academy graduates represent three key facets; the first being a continuous love of learning and how one should embrace the changing world by learning and developing new skills; secondly, the various career paths that have now opened up for the graduates at Brewin Dolphin; and thirdly, it demonstrates one of Brewin Dolphin’s core values, becoming experts in their chosen field. He went on to applaud the graduates’ hard work and dedication to get to where they are now.

He concluded: “I would encourage all of our Financial Planning Academy graduates to keep learning and developing. Our purpose at Brewin Dolphin is to enrich lives, that of our colleagues, clients and our communities. I am sure today is the start of a great career and great outcomes for our clients.”

Nick Fitzgerald, managing director of financial planning, Brewin Dolphin, spoke about the rigorous interview process undertaken by him and his team to find the highest calibre of candidates to embark on the course. He added that the candidates’ training was all leading up to the main aim of ultimately helping clients to achieve their financial aspirations.

He concluded by saying that Brewin Dolphin is a ‘people business’ and that the Financial Planning Academy graduates are very valued for their individuality, skills and hard work.

The ceremony concluded with a short talk by Keith Richards, CEO of the Personal Finance Society, who spoke about the professionalism of the new generation of financial planners and the importance of engendering trust in the public in financial services.
