Trees from one of the central showpieces at this year’s RHS Chatsworth Flower Show have been donated by wealth manager Brewin Dolphin to a local secondary school in Glossop, where they have been given a permanent home to be enjoyed by pupils, staff and visitors for years to come.
The magnificent trees, which formed part of the Brewin Dolphin Installation designed by award-winning designer Paul Hervey-Brookes, will provide Glossopdale school with a lasting legacy from the show, which wowed visitors at the Chatsworth Estate earlier this month.

Winner of the show’s prestigious People’s Choice Award, the Brewin Dolphin installation was inspired by a village that once stood in the shadow of Chatsworth House before being removed to make way for Capability Brown’s famous landscape. The five trees – including copper beeches, field maples and purple leaved hazels – were chosen to reflect the landscape of the estate and were planted alongside plants that would have grown at the time of the village. They have since been planted at the main entrance to the newly built Glossopdale School, funded by Derbyshire County Council.
Steve Playford, Principal at Glossopdale School said: “We are all really blown away with the generosity of the donation of the trees. They are in pride of place at the front entrance of the school and are a perfect match for the surrounding landscape”.
The Willow Wood Hospice, a local hospice in Ashton-Under-Lyne, also received a donation of £250 from Brewin Dolphin, following the sale of some of the key plants featured on the Installation. The hospice provides specialist palliative care to those suffering from life-limiting illnesses.
Bill Thomson, Head of Office at Brewin Dolphin Manchester said: “Creating a garden for an RHS show is a huge thrill but what happens to the garden at the end of the show is also hugely important to us. Giving back to the local community has long been embedded in Brewin Dolphin’s culture. We’re delighted to have been able to relocate the trees as a lasting legacy that can be enjoyed by the whole community of Glossopdale School and to have made a difference to patients and families at the Willow Wood Hospice”.
