Wealth manager Brewin Dolphin’s Cardiff office is celebrating after winning ‘best DFM (Discretionary Fund Manager) in Wales’ at the prestigious Citywire Wealth Manager Regional Stars Awards 2017, which took place on 2 March.
The 40-strong Cardiff office has within it a dedicated team that deals with IFA (Independent Financial Adviser) clients and is managed by experienced investment manager and divisional director for the Agent Partnership team, Simon Chicken. The Cardiff team comprises ten portfolio managers, eight administrators and two business development managers. The win marks the second consecutive year that the Cardiff office has won this award.
The Citywire Wealth Manager Regional Stars Awards are esteemed within the financial services industry as they are voted for by the IFA community, and therefore act as a platform for financial planners to rate discretionary firms on the quality of their service and investment proposition.
Brewin Dolphin, one of the UK’s leading independently-owned wealth managers, boasted an impressive haul of wins at this year’s Citywire awards, winning four out of the eight regions. The other Brewin Dolphin offices to win were: Glasgow (Scotland and Northern Ireland), Exeter (South West) and Ipswich (East).
The award win adds further impetus to Brewin Dolphin’s strategy of building a stronger UK intermediary channel, which saw a 15% increase in fund inflows in 2016, with Brewin Dolphin being named the most used discretionary fund manager by IFAs (according to Defaqto’s 2016 survey). Leading the charge on this are 17 regional-based business development managers who specifically service the IFA market.
