Brewin Dolphin responds to the Capita Registrars Private Investor Watch

News & comments

25 September 2012

According to the latest Capita Registrars Private Investor Watch research, private investors became bullish on equities over the summer seeing them invest a net £1.3bn into shares to take advantage of lower share prices.

Mike Lenhoff, Chief Strategist of Brewin Dolphin Investment Management said, “We agree with the merits of equities right now and that Capita’s report of increased retail investment is a good sign, this time. Providing you have the right shares and the right risk weighting for your portfolio and a good long time horizon, the equity market remains attractively valued.

We know investors are taking account of the dividend yield from equities, which alone can presently beat any bank deposit, as the dividend record for 2012 has shown. We believe that interest rates are going to remain low for the indefinite future and so higher yielding assets will remain attractive as long as dividends keep flowing.”
