News & comments

7 June 2007

Brewin Dolphin has appointed Graeme Summers as the head of its Investment Banking division. This new appointment covers responsibility for the group’s research, sales, trading, corporate broking and corporate finance operations. Mr. Summers has also joined the Board of Brewin Dolphin Securities Ltd, the principal operating company of Brewin Dolphin Holdings PLC, the UK’s second largest private client operation.

Graeme Summers has worked at Brewin Dolphin for 15 years having qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Young in 1990. During his time with Brewin he has worked on a number of highly successful IPOs and mergers and acquisitions. Most recently, Graeme led the Brewin Dolphin team during the £220 million fund raising for £453m Eaga plc, which has its first day of dealings on the main market of the LSE today.

Jamie Matheson, Executive Chairman of Brewin Dolphin commented today,
“I am delighted that Graeme Summers has agreed to join the Board and head up our Investment Banking Division, following his considerable success with our Institutional Broking arm. Appointing Graeme shows that Brewin Dolphin is serious about expanding its business in this area and replicating the successful model that has been built up over time. This process has already begun, as was shown by a survey published this week by Hemscott which ranked Brewin Dolphin first by profitability of its AIM clients and second by number of clients*.”

Graeme Summers also commented,
“Our business has a team of high quality and committed individuals with a broad range of complementary skills. This appears to be translating into some great opportunities. In the future we will continue to look to grow the business albeit within the strict quality parameters that we set ourselves.”
