William Thomson joined the Liverpool firm of Neilson Hornby Crichton in 1986. Moving to Manchester in 1988, he helped set up the first regional office of the Edinburgh firm Robert White & Co, becoming fully qualified in 1991. He remained in the same offices until 1996; although, following takeovers and mergers, he worked for Bell Lawrie White and then Quilter Goodison. In 1996, William moved to P H Pope & Son when offered a Partnership, and he remained there until the firm became part of Brewin Dolphin in 2002. William was a Divisional Director of the Stoke office until an opportunity arose to move to the Manchester branch as the Head of Office in summer 2011.
