Wealth management company, Brewin Dolphin has raised \u00a3114,000 for its London offices\u2019 chosen charity, Single Homeless Project (SHP). The sum was raised over two years of collective fundraising during 2020 and 2021, which also saw employees donating goods and volunteering their time and skills to help the charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 24 November 2021, one of the coldest nights of the year, the company\u2019s London head, William Hepburne-Scott, undertook the \u2018CEO Sleepout\u2019 along with senior managers from other local businesses to experience the hardships faced by those who are homeless and sleeping on the streets. William raised over \u00a38,000 for Single Homeless Project. He said of his experience: \u201cIt was a humbling 12 hours – to hear first-hand the challenges faced by those who have experienced homelessness; and then to experience that by coping with bitter cold and discomfort through a difficult night. It highlights the fantastic work done by Single Homeless Project and the importance of the money raised through generous donations\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During two years of pandemic restrictions, employees from Brewin Dolphin\u2019s City head office and its St James\u2019s office found innovative ways to raise money for Single Homeless Project. Activities included the \u2018SHP Circle Line Challenge\u2019 where employees individually walked, ran, or cycled the equivalent length of the tube\u2019s Circle Line, a distance of around 34km, a sponsored bike ride from London to Brighton and the \u2018Brewin Dolphin 7-Day Challenge\u2019 where teams completed various physically demanding tasks over seven days. Other fundraising activities included Christmas and Easter raffles, a tie sale and Christmas Jumper Day donations. Teams also bought Christmas gifts and food vouchers for the charity\u2019s hostel residents and volunteered their time to clear hostel gardens that had sat untouched over the pandemic and transform them back into usable spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rosie Richardson-Aitken, senior corporate responsibility manager at Brewin Dolphin, said<\/b>: \u201cAs we come out of the pandemic, the issue of homelessness hasn\u2019t gone away and so the need for Single Homeless Project and the wonderful support they give to the homeless community across London is as great as ever. We are delighted that we have been able to contribute in some way to their efforts to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness and we look forward to supporting them again this year.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
