In January 2017 we publically launched our MPS Passive Plus range across our platform partners. With this launch we have harnessed the benefits our asset allocation, passive investing and our fund research capabilities. MPS Passive Plus combines the benefits of passive investing with the benefit of active fund management where appropriate.
Passive Plus follows the same structure as our popular active Managed Portfolio Service (MPS), it has five core risk-rated models and the asset allocation is set by Brewin Dolphin’s Asset Allocation Committee with funds selected by the Brewin Dolphin fund research team. The MPS Investment Committee then oversee the construction of the models to create a cost effective solution. The five models are then rebalanced on a monthly basis to stay in line with our best thinking.
Although we only launched the service onto platforms in January, the five models have been running for a year now and we are delighted to now publish the performance figures. The performance of the markets has been strong in the last year. The five risk groups have achieved returns of; Cautious + 5.6%, Income + 8.3%, Balanced + 10.9%, Growth + 13.8% and Global Equity + 15.9%.
Gareth Johnson, Head of Digital Channels and Investment Services, said:
“Brewin Dolphin’s MPS Passive Plus range is good news for advisers. It means another investment option is available to a wider range of people. MPS Passive Plus enables advisers to choose the best possible investment strategy to fit with their clients’ expectations and investment needs.”
“The MPS Passive Plus range gives advisers the best of both worlds with us actively reviewing asset allocation but using underlying cheaper passive funds to get the relevant market exposure. The first year has gone extremely well and we are confident the service will go from strength to strength.”
Advisers can choose between Brewin Dolphin’s MPS Passive Plus, the active MPS and the full bespoke discretionary service, dependent on the specific needs of their client. At all times, the end client relationship resides with the adviser and investment suitability with Brewin Dolphin.
