Our communities

We want RBC Brewin Dolphin and its employees to be at the heart of the communities where we live and where we work. We are committed to being an active contributor to society – helping to inspire futures and positively impact those around us.

Positive impact

Our people want to make a difference in their own communities. We support and encourage this in a number of ways. We work with the Charities Aid Foundation and our charitable partners to support our corporate responsibility strategy. At a local level, we have a network of Corporate Responsibility Ambassadors who inspire and encourage charitable activities in their offices.

Charitable partnerships

As part of our Inspiring Futures programme, we have developed partnerships with organisations that prepare people to take the next steps in their academic or professional careers.

School for Social Entrepreneurs

Our Procurement Readiness programme with the School for Social Entrepreneurs supports those who have started businesses that have a positive social or environmental impact, who work in disadvantaged areas or with people in need.

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland

In Ireland, we have partnered with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, which supports high-potential social entrepreneurs in tackling Ireland’s social problems.

We support The Money Charity, which is the UK’s Financial Capability charity. Its vision is that everyone achieves financial wellbeing by managing their money well. The charity empowers people across the UK to develop the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to make the most of their money throughout their lives. By proactively providing education, information, advice and guidance to people of all ages and at all stages of life, The Money Charity helps them get to grips with their money and increase their financial wellbeing.

We are partners of The Brokerage, a London-based social mobility charity that helps less advantaged young people to achieve their career potential. Through our partnership, we offer employability skills learning, internships, mentoring and networking opportunities.

Many of our offices have built partnerships with charities working in their local communities. Our colleagues offer practical help, as well as support through fundraising, volunteering and skills-sharing.

Giving

We want our employees to support the charities that mean a lot to them, so we enable them to give regularly and easily through matched payroll giving. This has earned us the Platinum Payroll Giving Quality Mark.

We also get behind our employees and their own fundraising activities by providing fundraising matching – for anything from cake bakes to bike rides or parachute jumps.

Community grants programme

We invite our employees to nominate local charities for grants. These can be charities that they are personally involved with, or that work to benefit the community in which an employee lives. This enables us to donate money to specific causes that we know are important to our people and their communities.

Volunteering

Every employee is entitled to two days a year to volunteer for a good cause as an individual or as part of a team. We offer volunteering opportunities so that employees can make a difference in the communities in which they live and work. We also encourage our employees to give small pockets of their time on a regular basis through microvolunteering.

The value of investments and any income from them can fall and you may get back less than you invested.
