Equity research
The equity research team specialises in the UK market and covers over 120 companies, including all appropriate FTSE 100 companies and a selection of specific FTSE 250 stocks based on market capitalisation. The team consists of eight analysts, all of whom specialise in particular industries and sectors. These sector specialisms allow the analysts to maintain a detailed level of knowledge of the key drivers for each sector.
The equity research team continually updates stock recommendations using a combination of desk-based analysis and face-to-face meetings with senior company management. Investment managers can readily access this research or discuss specific issues with the analysts directly.
Stock recommendations are made relative to the given company's sector, with a specific focus on private shareholders. Each sector may require a different research approach, but our analysts combine as a team to offer our investment managers and clients an interactive and understandable tool for research and advice. Stock recommendations are made with close reference to Brewin Dolphin's research methodology, which focuses on three criteria; price momentum, value & growth and positive news flow. In addition to stock recommendations, the team also provides the framework for our UK sector strategy analysis as well as contributing to the group’s asset allocation decisions.
Each analyst is responsible for keeping notes on all covered companies, and producing research that reflects their current views. The analysts have a range of tools at their disposal with both qualitative and quantitative analysis equally weighted.
The team produces Quarterly Sector Reports, where in-depth analysis is conducted, noting the current themes within each sector.
