Research and opinion
When putting together portfolios for clients, our investment managers are guided by our clear and consistent investment process and top-class investment research. Brewin Dolphin has a dedicated in-house research team - its key objective is to source credible investment ideas which ultimately serve the ever-changing needs of our clients.
The universe of investment opportunities is complex and constantly evolving. To ensure we remain at the forefront of all developments, our research specialists provide objective analysis on UK equities (company shares), investment funds, fixed income securities (for example, government and company bonds) and alternative investments (for example, hedge funds). We are free to search across a wide range of the market to find suitable investment opportunities.

Research driven Managed Funds Service receives award
We are delighted that Brewin Dolphin’s Managed Funds Service (MFS) has won the Citywire Best Cautious Portfolio award. Each model in the MFS range has a positive risk-adjusted return and this award recognises the value which MFS has provided to advisors and their clients.
Outperformance of the MFS Cautious portfolio over the last few years has been driven by significant contributions from both allocation and selection which is a validation of Brewin Dolphin’s investment process. MFS leverages the award-winning Research Department’s fund selection skills and the Asset Allocation Committee’s record of adding value in nine out of the last ten years. These ideas are skillfully combined in such a way that attempts to drive steady outperformance while paying close attention to the benchmark. Fund costs and liquidity are also an important consideration in portfolio construction and all of these factors taken together can help give investors peace of mind that the risk they are taking on is in line with expectations.
