The Penrith office opened in September 2011 as an expansion out of the Keswick branch. The team has since grown, gaining members of staff from the Dumfries office who merged with us in October 2012. We have been providing a personal investment management and financial planning service to clients in Cumbria and beyond since 2006.
The divisional directors and staff bring with them many years of experience in investment management and an ability to provide a bespoke service to their clients in relation to shares and all other asset classes, drawing on the national expertise of the Group’s award-winning research team. We cater not only for private individuals, but also intermediaries such as solicitors and accountants, as well as a range of charities, trusts and pension funds.
Products such as ISAs, SIPPs and offshore bonds are handled from the Penrith branch, as well as the more traditional equity investments and share portfolios, managed on a discretionary basis. Financial planning expertise is also available to offer a complete investment management service to clients, which includes advice on pension selection, insurance products and tax mitigation.
Clients are welcome to telephone, email, write, or drop in to our offices. The directors and staff are happy to deal with both new and existing clients in whichever way is most helpful and convenient.

Peter Martin was born in 1965 and has lived all his life in the North of England. After completing his education at Manchester Grammar School, he joined Charlton Seal stockbrokers in 1987, which was then taken over by Brewin Dolphin. After passing his industry examinations and being appointed Divisional Director in the Manchester office, an opportunity arose in 2006 to set up a branch in Keswick. He took that chance enthusiastically and the office grew rapidly – requiring a move to larger premises in nearby Penrith five years later. Throughout his career, Peter has specialised in managing assets for private clients, trusts, charities and pension funds. He deals on a day-to-day basis with shares, bonds, and gilts and advises on a host of other financial instruments. He lives near Cockermouth with his wife, four children and one grandson. Among his hobbies, he lists horse riding, squash and shooting, but is also involved with a number of charities both local and national.
