The Leeds office can trace its heritage back to 1903 with the formation of Wise Speke. The Investment Management office became part of Brewin Dolphin Group in 1998 following the acquisition of Wise Speke. A further acquisition of local broker Broadbridge was completed in 2000, which was closely followed by a new team joining in 2001. Subsequent teams joined in 2008, 2009 and 2011. The team has now further expanded with members of staff from the Bradford office who merged with us in January 2013.
We now have over 40 members of staff in the investment management division responsible for the management of some £1 billion* of client monies. We have been working with individuals, families and businesses across Yorkshire and the UK providing successful investment solutions for generations. Our portfolio management services cover private clients, ISAs, charities, trusts, pension funds, and SIPPs, and we have executives with specialist knowledge in all of these areas.
The Leeds office is also one of Brewin Dolphin’s charity management centres of excellence. The team, headed up by Michael Craven, has a long track record and considerable expertise in investing on behalf of charities.
Our teams of financial planners offer an integrated service, designed to take a holistic view of your financial circumstances. As well as offering a full strategic financial planning package, we can also work on specific projects such as estate planning, school fee planning, pensions and tax efficient strategies.

Brewin Dolphin teams up with Welcome to Yorkshire
Financial experts Brewin Dolphin have teamed up with Welcome to Yorkshire to help promote the county and make the most of major opportunities like the Tour de France.
The Leeds office of Brewin Dolphin, which is one of the UK’s largest independently-owned private client wealth managers, has joined Welcome to Yorkshire’s Y30 programme which brings together a group of leading Yorkshire-based businesses that are ambitious, innovative and passionate about Yorkshire.
They will now work closely with the world award-winning tourism agency who led the winning bid to bring the Grand Départ of the Tour de France to Yorkshire next July 5 and 6, with a Cambridge to London stage taking place on July 7.
The Tour is the world’s largest annual sporting event and seen by more than 3bn people across the world on TV.
Early estimates predict Yorkshire’s Grand Depart could be worth around £100m to the county’s economy and as many as 3m people could line the route during two days of racing.
Michael Craven, Head of Brewin Dolphin Leeds, said: “We are pleased to be working with Welcome Yorkshire during this exciting time for the region. This initiative is a good fit for us – we are passionate and proud of Yorkshire and have several thousand clients in the region. We are a sports loving company and we support a range of sporting events across the UK, including cycling challenges, through our sponsorship programme.”
Peter Dodd, Commercial Director of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to have Brewin Dolphin on board as one of our key aims is to grow the county’s visitor economy and in turn help create jobs and opportunity for a whole range of people and businesses. Partnerships with leading experts like Brewin Dolphin are a key part of that work and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”
